DON JUAN COMES BACK FROM THE WAR (2018) - incidental music and sound design

Don Juan Comes Back From the War by Ödön von Horváth, in a new version by Duncan MacMillan. Directed by Kim Kerfoot.

Premiere: March 7-10, 2018 Lenfest Center for the Arts @ Columbia University.

Summary:

Don Juan is back from World War I and Berlin is crumbling. After years of abstinence, the Don is ready for more of the debauchery that made his name, but amidst political and economic upheaval he finds himself increasingly at odds with the man he used to be.

The music in the show interprets the directions in the text by creating an anachronistic mix of modern electronic elements, 80's synth pop a la Kraftwerk, 20's jazz, romantic classical music, and avant-garde punk music.
